McLaughlin Manufacturing is a fiberglass fabricator of quality composite products. The company had its origins during the 1960’s in San Diego CA. Know as Mclaughlin Boat Works they were the builder of high performance racing sailboats. The company first gained international recognition for building the McLaughlin Snipe racing sailboat.  The company’s high quality standards, leadership in composite manufacturing and winning of the Snipe World Championships year after year brought other racing class sailboats to request Mclaughlin manufacture their designs. The Lightning, Day Sailor, Windmill, Highlander, Thistle and Tanzer 16 racing sailboats were all built by McLaughlin. 

MBW has always taken pride in pushing the forefront of foam/composite technology, such as being one of the first, outside of the aerospace industry, to use a vacuum bag in performance sail craft back in the early 1980's. That history of innovation and continual improvement are evident today in our new dust and climate controlled production facility located in Chattanooga, TN.

Beginning in 1990 McLaughlin began building the International Optimist Dinghy sailboat. This boat is used to teach young sailors ages 8 to 15 to sail. There are over 300,000 of these boats under sail today. McLaughlin has become the leading manufacture of Optimist in the World building over 600 annually. This boat is also raced and Mclaughlin has won many International competitions such as the United States Nationals, South Americans and World Championships, etc on numerous occasions. 

In 1994 McLaughlin used its design / engineering expertise and tooling capabilities to bring to market innovative ceiling domes. These products are unusually attractive, with features new to the industry and easy to install.  Because you are buying direct from the manufacture the middleman markup is eliminated which equates to considerable savings.

Over the last 10 years, not only has McLaughlin tripled in size, but it has also built a strong financial foundation by diversifying into other product lines that require upper end fiberglass work. These include: Go Cart Bodies, Custom Car Hoods, Play ground equipment, Enclosures for hospital diagnostic equipment, Industrial robotic covers, Guards for carpet tufting machines plus Hardtops and Doors for the TJ Jeep Wrangler.
